One of the best heat pump systems for the money! Forget about Goodman or Carrier, get Amana!!
Goodman owns Amana
My 4 year old 5 ton Amana a basic 14Seer heat pump has had several issues, all electrical and really makes a loud noise now when starting. The ID label for it says Goodman on it, only the Amana screwed onto the top of the unit says Amana. The Amana brand is also made by a high Qualkty Japeniese brank with very high Seer rating and LIFETIME warranty on all parts not just the compressor. How do they do that? Over charge upfront and for labor?
had an amana distinctions heat pump installed a few months ago. its been ok for us, no real difference in comfort or sounds from our old trane system as far as i can tell. the Amana did cost about $3000 less than the trane heat pump quote we got though. happy about that for sure! mark
Amana distinction is simply Goodman and not Amana. Amana model number starts with A, Goodman with G, and so does distinction just to confuse you.
Compressor was noisy from the start.System was installed in September 2008 and worked until May 2013.The evaporator coil and fittings at the compressor and evaporator were defective and leaking and had to replaced.Parts were covered warranty but not labor cost of $770.It worked until November 2013 and now is not heating or cooling.I am debating to call the original installer or replace the unit with a different brand .I have checked on line and many people are having same problems with Amana.
I would like to say I started hvac in 1991. Installed for many years moved into service and worked on thousands of units of different brands. What I’ve found is many installers and service men aren’t properly trained and or cut corners When properly installed and maintained by service professionals brand often doesn’t matter The most important day for the longevity of your system is the day it’s installed
great value for cost of system compaired to carrier or trane, with 10 year parts warrarty and life time compressor warranty you cant go wrong here !
Cost us over $8500. After three years stopped cooling, coil gone bad. Repairman had to take it completely apart, replace part and put back together. $780.00 labor charge. Just feel it should have gone longer than 3 years without costly repair.
I Had an Amana 2.5 ton Heat pump installed in my attic to heat and cool my 2nd floor back in the summer of 2013 ( 2 years ago). The total install was very well priced. It has been heating and cooling my house without any problems since. I like to do my research on a product and brand before I purchase something and so far I have been very well satisfied with this unit. I have a second unit a Goodman to do the rest of the house and it has breaking down and causing problems the first 2 years we have owned it. It has been going good now that some of the load is shared by our new attic unit so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
I’m an a/c contractor I’ve been in the trade for 26 years and graduated from the #1 trade school in the country and Last year I started using AMANA as my preferred equipment installs and I have installed just about every brand of a/c and going on an AMANA factory tour and installing about 100 systems with absolutely no problems u highly recommend this brand ,price and warranty is unbeatable also Dieken has invested a lot of technology since purchasing this company a couple years ago!!
the only reason a contracter would use this piece of crap is because it is cheap the worst thing I ever spent money goodman shpuld be ashamed to make a piece of shit like amana
I’ve installed all brands. Proper installation is the key. Most People that have issues with Amana didn’t properly size system or lineset ,charge , purge with nitrogen as they sweat in or make sure they had enough return air. I worked for the number two Trane dealer in north a South Carolina for 8 years. I’ve seen what happens to all makes if just one of these is wrong. The brand to me is great. I’d put my system up against any made on the planet as far as reliability I began my hvac career in 1991 and have done residential commercial and industrial Go Amana resetting the bar for warranty
This unit was installed in 2006. It was a 4ton Heat Pump. After 10 years of service, it has cost me countless dollars of FREON, it is on its 3rd coil, second compressor, and various other parts. This has got to be the cheapest built unit that is known to mankind. Any money spent on this companies product is a TOTAL WASTE. So here are 3 things you can do: 1) take $5000 and go to your toilet and flush it. 2) go camping with $5000 and use it to start your campfire, 3) Buy an Amana unit. The value in 1 and 2 are that you won’t have discomfort and continuing costs, however if your deal is to throw good money after bad, option 3 would be your best choice as you try to stay comfortable with this gigantic piece of garbage.
I am in my 12th year of service on my Amana 16 seer unit. It has worked up till now with only a few down times in that 12 years. I have been told the compressor is bad and I am looking at a new one now I have read reviews on many brands and all and I mean all have some bad reviews. I am looking to replace with a 18 seer dual fuel due to we do have winters where the temps fall to single digits and theist of running heat strips makes for a 300-400 month bil. Over all I am a little disappointed I only got 12 years but I see that is not all that uncommon
We have had problem w/ Amana Heat pump from the start . ASZ14 . Installed in 2013 and problems starting within in year one . We must have put in $3,000.00 so far. Make sure you register the model within 60 days or they wont cover any warranty work . I thought we did but there is no proof . Don’t use customer card by mail do it on line instead. That was our mistake . The contractors did a great job , but I wouldn’t recommend this Heat Pump . I contacted the company and no breaks or suggestions , only our paperwork wasn’t on time . It’s also very loud but we over looked that because it was made in USA . We are homeowners and hired a company to install.
Not a cold weather product! Good until just a few degrees below freezing and then produces faults. Some components fastened with zip ties which slip. The company will not respond directly to owners, only through HVAC professionals. The warrantee is not transferable when you sell. Controls are common to Goodman/Daikin so if you have one, make sure the tech knows what he is doing.
